Creative Color Challenge
COLOR WHEEL

It's time for Louise Gale's latest challenge.  It's to create your own color wheel and the sky's the limit!  Use any material or medium your heart desires!

My color wheel was already created - all I had to do was photograph it!  I organize my beads by color (my pins and sequins too) so it's easier to create my beaded Rainbow Ball and Chain ornaments!
Here's the link to Louise's site where you'll get all the details.  Maybe you'd like to join the challenge?

Before and After

I'm a sucker for "Before and Afters" ......make-overs, room re-do's, and old things given a new lease on life!  I just love that almost anything can be made to look better with some make-up, rearrangement or paint!  Here are my 2 latest B&A's.......rusty old rummage sale purchases ($1 each) turned into yard art that now decorates the area near my front door!

Sun - After

Rusty! - Before
Flower After

Score!

I spent the morning at the South Florida Fairgrounds Flea Market/Garage Sale.  When I'm there, I'm like a pig in sh*t!
Heaven!!
While I found lots of great stuff, this is my score for the day......vintage Christmas tree light reflectors in different shapes and colors!  Love 'em!

I also found these assorted treasures!
Stay tuned to see how they'll be incorporated into upcoming art projects!

PS - some were purchased but others were found in the parking lot!

A STEP BACK IN TIME

Last month when I was on the Eastern Shore I visited Jaxon's in Parksley Virginia!  Wow - what a place!  It was truly like stepping back in time!  I remember going to this Five and Dime as a child in the 60's and the place has not changed a bit!  Well. okay, maybe a little bit.......they didn't have that pair of patent leather yellow and orange sandals that I once coveted!

Love this hair net display!

     UPDATED VINTAGE TEA TOWELS

While yard sale-ing last fall, I came across some unique retro dish towels that still had some life in them.  I decided to update them so they could continue hanging out in the kitchen as they had for many years.   I got the idea for making these from a similar towel my mom gave me.  She used a new towel and pot holder to make hers but I liked the idea of repurposing old towels because I find the colors and patterns so interesting.
I did purchase some new potholders, then used vintage buttons and assorted vintage trim to bring them back to life.  I love the fact that they fasten around the bar on the oven door making them accessible without falling on the floor.  I gifted the first few I made - these are my latest.  I'd like to make more since I'll be listing them in my etsy shop, but I'm running out of towels.  Yikes - you know what that means......gotta hit the rummage sales and score some more.

Peruvian Purple Potatoes

Yep....purple potatoes for dinner!  Maria's Produce Market has a variety of fresh vegetables that I've never ever seen before.  Many of the customers are from India, Peru and Guatemala, thus the unfamiliar offerings.  I don't have the slightest idea how to prepare most of the vegetables they offer but with potatoes.....I thought I'd be safe.  I oven roasted them with fresh rosemary, garlic, olive oil and S&P.  They didn't crisp up like I wanted so I finished them off in a saute pan.  Although they tasted like regular potatoes, the brilliant purple color (the photo doesn't do them justice) made them taste even better!
